One of the most rewarding parts of the Foundation’s work has been watching this community thrive. Over the years, we’ve seen it happen in many ways: at our events, through our trainings and talks - community members meet, share, and learn, and those moments often turn into career opportunities. Sometimes it’s through conversations and networking, other times because members have asked us for help finding work, or companies have reached out looking to hire from this community. The Foundation has been making those connections informally for a long time, and now we want to amplify and formalize this positive impact.

The Objective-Steve program is our way of making that process intentional, to formally support the talent in this community and help their careers grow.

Testimonials:

Stuart Ashenbrenner
Principal macOS Researcher @ Huntress
I went to the first conference, #OBTS v1.0, when I was still in college. All of the industry jobs I’ve had since were a direct result of attending – in both the knowledge I received and the connections I made there.

It not only helped me form connections and friendships that will last a lifetime, but it was a conference brimming with both talent and a passion for macOS security.

Security Engineer @ Datadog
The Objective-See Foundation's conferences and trainings helped me obtain two jobs (student role and full-time role), as well as interviews at major tech companies. I was a scholarship recipient of the 2024 #OFTW in Ukraine, and 2024 #OBTS in Hawaii. I am so grateful for the experiences I've gotten through the Objective-See Foundation, and I hope to be a presence and participant at all its future events.

I am proud to rep the Objective-See Foundation — so much so, that I have convinced three of my brand new coworkers to attend the conference!

SwiftUI Mac Software Engineer @ Apple
#OBTS has been a game-changer for my career. It helped me widen my horizons and connect with industry leaders I never would have met otherwise. The visibility and profile boost I got from participating actually led directly to my current role - at the time a manager discovered me via the posts that mentioned my talk and companion GitHub project, reached out to suggest interviewing for a position on his team, and it turned into an amazing opportunity that I absolutely loved!

It's one of those things where the impact went way beyond what I expected when I first got involved. Really grateful for how it opened doors I didn't even know existed!

VP of Research @ iVerify
A couple weeks before my first talk at the #OBTS conference I got an email from Patrick, mentioning one of #OBTS's "Friends of" was looking for an iOS Security Researcher and he thought I fit the profile. Patrick connected us and here we are!

This was the beginning of my career story at the iVerify Team, and now, a little over a year later I am leading the research team at iVerify, at the forefront of the fight against mercenary spyware. It was definitely one of my best choices in life to submit a talk to #OBTS. So I am extremely grateful to the Objective-See Foundation!

The Objective-See Foundation shaped my path. It’s like a garden: they plant the seeds.

It gave me the chance to attend one of my first trainings and conferences, to learn from the best, to meet an amazing community and make new friends and, last but not least, the confidence to deliver my first conference talk and lead my first training.
